Gericke Kohn is an educator in the Idaho Falls School District 91; he currently teaches 7th grade English at Eagle Rock Middle School. On top of being married to, “the best woman in the world,” and raising five children with her, Kohn also splits time between running his schools eSports club and competitive teams, serving on the D91 eSports Coaches Council, working as a Board Member for the Idaho Esports Association as the Middle School League Director, and streaming on Twitch. It’s safe to say, eSports is a big deal in the Kohn household.
Kohn has been an educator in Idaho for five years, coaching at Eagle Rock for three of those years. Before teaching he worked a variety of industries, as well as served for seven years in the Idaho National Guard. Kohn wanted to teach from third grade onwards, but got away from the idea for many years. Never giving up on the dream, he finished his certification and started his teaching career in 2020 right alongside Covid-19. As for eSports, Kohn played Support and Shot Caller for an amateur SMITE team in several tournaments, including a few Challenger tournaments, where they fell just short of entering the professional arena only losing to the overall tournament champions. Kohn is passionate about teaching, and eSports and currently is working towards bringing an eSports curriculum to his district. He believes that tying eSports and education together is a way to bring a degree of excitement, many students do not feel towards education, back to the classroom
