Unlock the Power of Spreadsheets with 3 Basic Formulas
Wednesday February 5, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am MST
Everyone knows that all kinds of good information can be pulled from spreadsheets, but how do you unlock that information? Data comes alive when you can manipulate data to understand it. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll begin with a generic term final grade spreadsheet with thousands of enrollments and grades and we will use the Unique, If, and Vlookup functions in Google Sheets to sort out how individual students did. Gaining an understanding of how to use these 3 simple functions allows users to pull all kinds of information from their spreadsheets and become spreadsheet magicians. Participants will need their laptops, at least a basic knowledge of spreadsheets, and access to Google Sheets. If you are familiar with spreadsheets but would like to have more knowledge of how to manipulate them, this workshop is for you.

How to Use Mail Merge to Send Customized Mass Emails
Wednesday February 5, 2025 10:15am - 11:00am MST
Would you like the ability to send thousands of customized emails to recipients in minutes using a spreadsheet? Or to use a spreadsheet to create thousands of custom documents easily? If you have access to email addresses, data, and Google Sheets this process is actually really easy. If you’ve never used a mail merge program for mass emailing or mass document creation, this presentation will give you a nice overview of how this works. iSucceed uses YAMM (Yet Another Mail Merge) and Autocrat for our mass emailing needs and you’ll see how we use these programs to promote student engagement and improve academic performance. Anyone attending this session will walk away with knowledge of how mail merges work plus ideas of how to use them in your school.

Resilience in Action – Business Continuity & IT Disaster Recovery Best Practices and an Interactive Exercise
Thursday February 6, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am MST
On average, the world experiences 350 to 500 medium-to-large scale natural disasters each year. This rate of occurrence is expected to continue through 2030 and could significantly increase year-over-year. In short, the development of resilience strategies has become part of doing business -- are you confident in your school or district’s ability to respond to [and recover from] these types of events? This presentation, led by a DRII Business Continuity Professionals, walks the audience through a Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery Program Lifecycle. As we step through the lifecycle, our presenters will equip attendees with actionable knowledge, share best practices, and explain the principles that underpin each activity. Midway through the session our presenters will switch gears from education to applied learning – effectively leading the audience through a tabletop exercise and simulating the decisions necessary to navigate a real-life disaster. Attendees are encouraged to participate and ask questions as we explore the strategic imperative of safeguarding and ensuring continuity of K-12 and higher education!

Distinctive Stories from Amazing Projects
Thursday February 6, 2025 10:15am - 11:00am MST
Education is not about the number of minutes we have our students, but rather the number of great moments we craft for them to experience. In this session, we'll look at innovative approaches from students and how they are making the world better, with attention to what kind of learning allows them to build confidence, explore cool, connect with students globally, and pursue personal excellence. Examples will be taken from the Creative Solutions for the Global Good class taught by the presenter, though the ideas can be incorporated into individual projects for other classes or activities specific to school clubs.
